Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven Review

PROS AND CONS:
The Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven adjusts the heat distribution of the five quartz heating elements through the Element IQ, causing food to be cooked evenly and quickly. The 9 menu options allow the user to choose the optimal setting for the item to be cooked. In addition, the voltage can be adjusted for more versatility. Instead of switches labeled on and off, the power control is like a dimmer switch, allowing power adjustment by a simple turn of the knob. Different settings yield different results: 1500 watts of heat come from the top element for broiling; heat comes from both top and bottom to brown toast evenly; and convection heat bakes cookies and cakes, using a fan to circulate the air so all sides bake at the same rate. The customized settings remain in the machine's memory until they're changed, or the toaster is unplugged. The Breville BOV800XL Toaster Oven is durable stainless steel, with a non-stick interior able to withstand high temperatures. The quartz elements respond more quickly to heat change than other metals, for more even heating. The crumb/drip tray is accessed through the front of the unit, instead of in the back, as in many other toasters. The wire rack comes halfway out, pulled by magnets, when the door is open. This toaster oven can hold 6 slices of toast, a 13-inch pizza, or an entire chicken. And it's safe: the time and temperature dial has an auto shut-off and a sound alert. There are few negatives with the Breville BOV800XL Toaster Oven. This item is not free of PFOA, or perfluorotanoic acid. This synthetic chemical used in the non-stick coating has been shown to cause adverse effects in laboratory animals. The EPA has recommended that its use be discontinued.
